Susan Campoy opened Julienne in 1985, as a result of a home based catering business that started with cooking for friends. Sue's love for cooking and entertaining was well known and admired in the community, and dinner party guests quickly turned into loyal clients. Her four young daughters were instrumental in the kitchen as well, cleaning, prepping and loading up the family station wagon so Sue could go off to her small catering jobs.

Initially a small restaurant with only four tables and one deli case, Julienne quickly grew into something more: tables were added, a new deli case offered "take away" foods, and at the insistant pleas of many, breakfast was added in 1990. Daughter Julie arrived in 1989 to help with operations, and joined the small but growing staff, many of whom are still here. Still in the original location, Julienne is located in a tree-lined residential neighborhood, nestled amid Mission Street's boutiques and salons.
